Where Modern Farmhouse Meets European Simplicity
Where function glows quietly, and form takes centre stage. A focal point with presence — blending warmth, proportion, and architectural detail into a timeless statement.
The Challenge
A well-designed living room should invite you to stay. Yet in long, open spaces, the eye is often drawn from one end of the room to the other, leaving the space feeling transient rather than settled.
This living room faced exactly that challenge. Its elongated layout created strong sight-lines through the space, making it difficult for the seating area to feel connected to the room as a whole.
The room needed something to create balance and encourage the eye to pause. Rather than centring the space around a television, the intention was to introduce an architectural feature that would bring warmth, character and a stronger sense of identity to the living area.
What it lacked wasn't furniture or decoration, but a sense of destination.
The Design Concept
To give the room a stronger sense of purpose, we designed a bespoke fireplace wall that acts as an architectural anchor for the living area.
The oversized arch introduces softness and depth, helping to break up the long sight-lines and create a natural focal point within the space. Oak shelving adds warmth and balance, while providing room for styling and personal touches.
The design draws inspiration from modern farmhouse interiors, combined with the simplicity often found in European homes. Natural materials, soft curves and a restrained palette create a sense of warmth without feeling overly decorative.
Rather than competing for attention, the fireplace wall was designed to sit comfortably within the room, bringing structure, character and a quiet sense of permanence to the space.
