Where Modern Farmhouse Meets European Simplicity
A standard new-build living room transformed through two connected architectural features, balancing old-world character with modern living.
Before,
a standard new-build living room.
After,
function glows quietly, and form takes centre stage.
The Challenge
In a long, open-plan living room, strong sight-lines can make the space feel more like a passage than a place to settle.
Here, the aim was to create a stronger sense of balance and identity, using architectural features to draw the eye, introduce warmth and help the living area feel more grounded and connected.
The Result
The built-in electric fireplace introduces warmth and modern functionality, while the arched opening softens the composition and gives the wall a more distinctive focal point. Across the room, the media wall responds with a smaller arched niche, integrated shelving and cabinetry, allowing the television to sit naturally within the interior rather than dominate it.
The shared architectural language, material palette and considered proportions connect the two sides of the room, creating a space that feels cohesive, considered and made for everyday living.
